Chevrolet Corvette (2008)
Last updated on: Aug 01 2010
Manufactured by General Motors, the Chevrolet Corvette is essentially a sports car - or rather, a luxury sports car. The Chevrolet Corvette reaches incredible speeds in relative comfort, and also accommodates two passengers in its extremely comfortable cabin. The car is available as a two door coupe as well as convertible. Introduced in 1953, the Corvette has a performance akin to a Ferrari but available at a reasonably cheap bargain price. The 2008 model is the latest in the series of the Corvette C6, which has been on the road since 2005.
The 2008 model comes equipped with a new LS3 engine – with increased displacement of 6.2 litres and a powerful 430 HP V8 engine. Torque of the car is set 424 lb-ft, which can be increased with the optional performance exhaust. The C6 has a six speed manual transmission with improved shift linkage – the TR6060 replacing the old T-56. The time taken by the car to go from 0 to 60 is a mere 4 seconds. The automatic transmission version of the car gives a 0-60 time of 4.3 seconds.
The wheels of the 2008 model have also been updated – they now have a five spoke design. The C6 also includes a radical change from the C5 as far as suspension geometry is concerned – the new body of the car has exposed headlamps and a much larger engine. The steering rack and the interior plastic bezel have also been given a boost in the new model. Also available in the 2008 Corvette is a full leather interior, although it’s optional.
If you’re looking for the cheapest deal for the C6, you should take a look at auctions on the internet. The 2008 model of the Chevrolet Corvette is the perfect luxury sports car, performing well on both the track and the open road.
