Last updated on: Aug 01 2010
The Mercedes Benz has always been known for its quality and style. It has never disappointed its ardent lovers when it comes to performance and setting new bench marks for quality - and the 2005 Mercedes Benz SL class keeps up this long tradition of the venerated German auto giant.
The 2005 model has a retractable hardtop which was first incorporated in the SL class in 2001. The SL roadster is available worldwide with different variants. It is available in Europe as SL350 with a 3.7 litre V6 engine which delivers a 245 BHP at 5000 rpm. It is available as SL500 roaster with a seven speed automatic gear transmission system with touch shift control. It has a 5.0 litre V8 engine rated at 306 BHP at 5600 rpm. It also has an aluminium retractable hardtop.
The SL55AMG model is another variant of 2005 SL class. It has a 5.5 litre supercharged V8 engine which is pulled by 407 horses at 4700 rpm. The car has manual shift buttons, sensotronic brakes with 8 piston callipers and AMG active body control suspension. The SL600 roadster model is a 5.5 litre twin turbocharged V12 engine producing 493 HP at 5000 rpm. It features active body control suspension, sensotronic brake control system with enlarged front and rear disks, heated and ventilated multi contour seats. Another variant of the car is the SL65 AMG. It is one of the fastest cars in the SL series and can do a 0 to 100 kph in just 4.2 seconds.
The car is priced at around $ 128,000 but for a car like the Mercedes Benz SL-class, this price is not very high. All prices when compared to features of this car and the brand name associated with the company look very cheap, although the cheapest deals for this car can be made through auctions.
