Chevrolet Camaro (1967-1969)

January 6, 2010

General Motors initially came up with the Chevrolet Camaro in 1967 as an answer to the Ford Mustang. In fact the product managers had gone so far as saying that the Camaro is a “small, vicious animal that eats Mustangs.” The Camaro is a pony car, and there were four different generations of the car produced until 2002 and can also be labelled as a muscle car or a ‘grand tourer’. The model which was in production and used up until1969 was part of the first generation of the Chevrolet Camaro. Read more

Chevrolet Corvette (2008)

June 14, 2009

Manufactured by General Motors, the Chevrolet Corvette is essentially a sports car - or rather, a luxury sports car. The Chevrolet Corvette reaches incredible speeds in relative comfort, and also accommodates two passengers in its extremely comfortable cabin. The car is available as a two door coupe as well as convertible. Introduced in 1953, the Corvette has a performance akin to a Ferrari but available at a reasonably cheap bargain price. The 2008 model is the latest in the series of the Corvette C6, which has been on the road since 2005.

The 2008 model comes equipped with a new LS3 engine – with increased displacement of 6.2 litres and a powerful 430 HP V8 engine. Torque of the car is set 424 lb-ft, which can be increased with the optional performance exhaust. The C6 has a six speed manual transmission with improved shift linkage – the TR6060 replacing the old T-56. The time taken by the car to go from 0 to 60 is a mere 4 seconds. The automatic transmission version of the car gives a 0-60 time of 4.3 seconds. Read more

Perhaps the world’s most popular sports car, and definitely the most pioneering at the time of its inception, the Chevrolet Corvette is right at the top of the heap when it comes to cars. Manufactured since 1953 by Chevrolet, the Corvette started off as a two-seat sports car at a time when the focus was shifting from utility and usability of cars to style and design. The name Corvette is derived from a small, lightly armed warship. Read more

Chevrolet Camaro 1993-2002 (4th Gen)

August 6, 2008

1993 saw the advent of the fourth generation as far as the cars from the Chevrolet Camaro stable were concerned. Debuting on an updated F-body platform, the model from Chevrolet (and General Motors as the parent company) came out in two body styles – the two-door coupé as well as the two-door convertible. The cars in its class include a compact or ‘pony’ car, a muscle car and a sports car – based on the optional components. The basic features of the Camaro remained the same as in previous years: two doors, 2 + 2 seating, available as a coupé or convertible, fitted with a rear-wheel drive, and given a choice of V6 and V8 engines for the car. The fourth generation Camaro lasted until 2002, when General Motors decided to discontinue production. On a more interesting note, the official pace car for the Indianapolis 500 is Camaro Z28.
