The 2006 Honda Civic was the result of a redesigned model, earmarking the start of the eighth generation for the Honda Civic.

The eighth generation body style includes a two door coupe (FG1 / FG2), a three door hatchback (FN1 / FN2 / FN3), a four door sedan (FA1 / FA3 / FA4 / FA5 / FD1 / FD2 / FD3 / FD4) and a five door hatchback (FK1 / FK2 / FK3). The car is based on the FF layout.
