Last updated on: Mar 11 2010
The Dodge Viper is a pure muscle car, designed by the Dodge division of Chrysler LLC in 1989. Its production began in 1992 when it was launched as a two seater V10 and over the years the car has become known for its extremely powerful engine, straightforward design, aggressive and powerful styling and high performance.
The Viper SRT-10 coupe was introduced as the Dodge Viper 2006 at the Detroit Motor Show. Its body style includes a two door coupe and a two door roadster. It is powered by a 8.3 litre V10 engine which produces a mind numbing 510 HP (380 kW) at 725 N-m. It is accompanied by a T56 Tremec six speed manual gear transmission system. The weight of the 2006 model is lighter by around 230 kg when compared to the previous models; this makes the performance nippier. The chassis of the car has also been redesigned. The car retains the “Double Bubble” roof shape of the original Viper.
The Dodge Viper retains the original GTS tail lights and also offers the Viper blue paint scheme with white stripes running across it. The frame has been made "stiffer", thus reducing drag and increasing down force. All this makes driving a Dodge Viper a safer and more exhilarating experience.
Owning a Dodge Viper has always been the dream of every motor enthusiast. It is the epitome of sports car with the perfect concoction of power and style. The Dodge Viper is slightly expensive, but when the facts like its power, performance and its status are taken into consideration, the price doesn’t matter that much. Although cheap bargains for this car should not be a deciding factor, the cheapest deals for a Dodge Viper can be made through auctions.
